Good afternoon Abbeydale School Families,  

Our first few days have been wonderful!  It was great to see the excitement and love for Abbeydale School on display by our students, families and teachers.  As someone who is new to the school community I feel lucky to be a part of it!  This past week students have been getting to know their teachers, classmates and classroom routines. And teachers have been learning what makes each student unique and are beginning to create routines and structures that support learning and social emotional growth.  We encourage you to connect with your teachers throughout the year to see how you can support them! Whether it be creating morning and evening routines at home, supporting your child with developing reading skills or just asking them what they did each day at school, when we work together our students benefit.

School Hours

Monday to Thursday - 8:00 AM – 2:40 PM  

Friday - 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM 

There is no supervision before 7:50 AM. Please do not drop off or pick up students in the Bus Parking zone or in the staff parking lot.

Lunch and Snack

Lunch rotation 1 11:00 AM – 11:49 AM

Lunch rotation 2 11:55 AM - 12:44 PM

  • All students should bring a snack from home 
  • Students who are staying for lunch should bring a nutritious lunch (limit sugary treats and pop)
  • Students who are going home for lunch must enter through the main doors and check in with the main office when they return. 
  • Please call the school office if you are in need of food support  

Monday, September 2 (No School)  

There will be No School September 2 as it is a holiday. Enjoy the long weekend!  

Meet the Teacher (September 6 from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM)  

We will be hosting a Meet the Teacher opportunity next Friday from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child/ren’s teacher and gather some information for how YOU can help support them this year. This is a casual opportunity, so feel free to drop in during these times, plan to spend around 15 minutes for each child you have. Please note that the school will be CLOSED from 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM as we prepare for this and will end promptly at 2:30 PM. We look forward to seeing you then!

 Hello Parents of Abbeydale School!

All of us here on the Abbeydale School Parent Council want to both say welcome back to our parents and students who’ve been part of the school and for those who are new we want to say welcome to the school.

As a Parent Council, we’re always looking for volunteers to help out throughout the school year. To give you an idea on where we are looking for help, we need volunteers for our Parent Council as we have members on their last year in the school, so this year is the last year to work alongside them to learn those positions. There are also volunteer opportunities for fundraisers coming up this year, from in-school events to our casino that is coming up October 23 & 24.

So you’re aware of what we do, Parent Council meets once a month (we’re predominantly virtual right now) for a couple of hours where we discuss what’s happening in the school, what are the goals of the teaching staff, learning where we can help on funding (for example funding field trips and in school activities so parents are not burdened with extra costs) and then voting on those funding requests.

To learn more about what’s coming up, different ways to help out or to help provide input, there’s multiple ways to get a hold of us.
