Valuables and Personal Belongings

Children are encouraged to be responsible for their own possessions. Please label shoes, coats and boots with your child's first and last initial to help ensure that items lost are returned to their owner. Valuable belongings such as electronics and toys SHOULD NOT be brought to school. The school will not assume responsibility for such items.

Cell Phones

Away for the Day Cell Phone Policy:  Abbeydale School has an away for the day cell phone policy. If students choose to bring their cell phones to school, the expectation will be for them to remain in their back packs on silent or turned off for the duration of the school day. Should you need to connect with your child during the school day, please contact the main office and we will ensure the message gets to your child. It is always our recommendation that students do not bring valuables like technology to school as we do not accept any responsibility for loss or damage of students’ personal devices.

If students are caught with a phone:

  • First Offence | Phone is brought to the office to be housed in the office for the remainder of the day. Phone is returned to the student at the end of the day.
  • Second Offence | Phone is brought to the office to be housed in the office for the remainder of the day. Phone is returned to a guardian at the end of the day.
  • Third Offence | Phone is brought to the office, and progressive discipline measures begin to be employed.
