September 23-27 is Truth and Reconciliation Week.  At Abbeydale school we are learning from the story My Suitcase written Kainai Nation member Christiana Fox.  In it she talks about the sadness and hardships she experienced during her time at residential school, and how holding on to her traditional teachings and personal values of courage, love and hope helped her to get through and heal afterwards.  This week students at Abbeydale will be learning from Christina’s story and reflecting on their own cultural teachings and personal values and how they can help them persevere through hardships.

Staff and students will wear an orange shirt to commemorate the residential school experience and support and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families 

School Pictures 

All children brought home a piece of paper from the photographer.   Please follow the instructions on the form to view and order your photos.  If you have questions, please call the photographer (Prime School Photography) directly using the number on the form  

Picture retake day is  Tuesday October 8.  

Alex Dental Bus 

Alex Dental Bus visited all grade 2 and grade 6 classrooms with information about complimentary dental services they provide.  They will be back at the school on October 2.  If you wish your grade 2 or 6 child to be a part of this, please sign the form and return it to their teacher.

School Hours:  

Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 2:40pm  

Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm 

There is no supervision before 7:50am 

Please do not drop off or pick up students in the Bus Parking zone, or in the staff parking lot 

Lunch and Snack: 

Lunch rotation 1 11:00am – 11:49am  

Lunch rotation 2 11:55am - 12:44pm  

All students should bring a snack from home 

Students who are staying for lunch must bring a nutritious lunch.  

Please send your children with a fork or spoon if needed.  The school does not have these items to provide. 

Students who are going home for lunch must enter through the main doors and check in with the main office when they return. 

Please call the school office if you are in need of food support.
