Week of Dec. 4-8 | No School Friday, Winter Weather, Pick-up/Drop-off

Good afternoon Abbeydale School Families,

A HUGE thank you to our School Council and those that were able to make it out to last Monday’s meeting. Councils are such a support to schools and there are some exciting things in the works. Look for further information to come out in the coming weeks from them about opportunities that YOU can be involved as they are looking for people to support upcoming initiatives like special snack days, Abbeydale Swag and fundraising for a new playground. If you’d like to learn more you can contact them at abbeydaleschoolcouncil@gmail.com.

Please see updates from the week ahead below:

Non-Instructional Day (Friday, Dec. 8)

There will be NO school on Friday, Dec. 8 as it is a non-instructional day.

Winter Celebration

We’ll be hosting our annual Winter Celebration on Thursday, Dec. 14. The performance will begin at 5:30pm in the gym and will run for roughly 75-90 minutes. Based on our limited capacity, we ask that attendance is restricted to a couple of immediate family members. Further instructions/details will be sent out in the coming weeks.

Winter Weather

Just a reminder that Winter is here! Checking the weather daily is a great habit to work on at home to help your child prepare for the day and to ensure they have proper footwear and outerwear to brave the elements. As a reminder, based on CBE policy we will be going outside for recess until the temperature reaches –20 or colder. Make sure to check the Weather Network and bundle up!

Pick-Up/Drop-Off

Our school day begins at 8:00am each morning, with staff supervising outside beginning at 7:50am. Our school day ends at 2:40pm. Please ensure that you arrive on time to be able to pick up your child at this time. If an emergency arises and you are going to be a few minutes late, please contact the office. We want to remind families that our office closes shortly after the school day. We ask that late pick-up is minimal to ensure that staff are able to tend to their other responsibilities after the bell.

Have a great weekend,

Megan Liddell (mrliddell@cbe.ab.ca) & Jaydon Derdall (jwderdall@cbe.ab.ca)
