Next week is Family Literacy week in the CBE. Literacy week is focused on raising awarenss about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. Taking time every day to read or do a learning activitiwith your child/ren is crucial to their development and can help improve their literacy skills as well as their confidence! Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration opens January 15, 2024 and is done through School Engage. Students need to be 5 years old by December 31, 2023 in order to register for Kindergarten.

Report Cards

As has been the case the last few years, report cards will be made available in MyCBE the week of Jan. 30- Feb. 2). More details will be available in the new year. 

Staffing Updates

Alberta Education recently announced schools will receive some additional funds to support students as we continue to see gaps left by the disruption of the pandemic. We are excited to announce that we have hired Mr. Clayton Bergman who will be working to support students Grade 3-5 students with Numeracy. We’re also excited to announce that we have hired Ms. Karina Muckle who will be with us beginning on Feb. 5 and will work Monday – Thursday's. Ms Muckle will be doing Phys Ed, allow homeroom teachers some additional time to support partner classes with small group work and intervention. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Bergman and Ms. Muckle! 

Adjustments to Grade Configurations at Abbeydale (2024-25) 

As was announced earlier, Abbeydale School along with Dr. Gladys McKelvie Egbert will be going through grade configurations for the next school year. Beginning in September of 2024, Abbeydale School will become become Kindergarten – Grade 6 and Dr. Gladys Egbert will become a Grade 7 – Grade 9 school. For more information, please refer to the communication sent on Thursday, Dec. 7.
