Week of Nov. 13-17 | Fall Break, Pick-Up/Drop-off, Soccer, School Council

Good afternoon Abbeydale School Families,

While a short week, it has been packed with a lot. Throughout the past week, students have been working on some amazing collages, paintings, drawings and writing (such as letters to soldiers) to commemorate Indigenous Veteran’s Day and Remembrance Day. These activities were capped off in a school-wide presentation shown in classrooms today and were a reflection of the collective efforts and reflections of each of our students. A big THANK YOU to Ms. Slavik and Ms. Rehill for putting all of this together!

Please see updates from the week ahead below:

Thursday, Nov. 9 (Non-Instructional Day) & Fall Break (Nov. 10-14)

There is NO school on Thursday, Nov. 9 as it is a Non-Instructional Day. Students are also off from Nov. 10-14 as it is Fall break. We encourage families to plan for opportunities to be together with one another and with nature!

Pick-Up/Drop-Off

Our school day begins at 8:00am each morning, with staff supervising outside beginning at 7:50am. Our school day ends at 2:40pm. Please ensure that you arrive on time to be able to pick up your child at this time. If an emergency arises and you are going to be a few minutes late, please contact the office. We want to remind families that our office closes shortly after the school day. We ask that late pick-up is minimal to ensure that staff are able to tend to their other responsibilities after the bell.

Soccer

Due to the ongoing safety concerns with snow and ice as well as peer conflicts, we’ve decided to take a break from soccer for the next little while. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and will revisit next steps in the coming weeks.

School Council Meeting (Nov. 27)

Our next school council meeting will take place in-person on Monday, Nov. 27. We invite any interested parents to come and be a part of the great work council does to support our school! While this meeting is in person, please note that childcare is not provided at the school.

Have a great Fall Break!
