Week of Nov. 27 - Dec. 1 | Winter Weather, Pick-up/Drop-off, Winter Celebration, Soccer
Good afternoon Abbeydale School Families,
It’s hard to believe that we’re already moving into the last week of November with December right around the corner! That said, we still have 4 full weeks until the Winter Break and we want to ensure that we get as much learning in as possible! Continue to connect with your child’s homeroom teacher to see what’s going on in their learning and how you can support!
Please see updates from the week ahead below:
Winter Weather
Just a reminder that Winter is here! Checking the weather daily is a great habit to work on at home to help your child prepare for the day and to ensure they have proper footwear and outerwear to brave the elements. As a reminder, based on CBE policy we will be going outside for recess until the temperature reaches –20 or colder. Make sure to check the Weather Network and bundle up!
School Council Meeting (Nov. 27 at 6:30pm in the Learning Common)
Our next school council meeting will take place in-person on Monday, Nov. 27. We invite any interested parents to come and be a part of the great work council does to support our school! While this meeting is in person, please note that childcare is NOT provided at the school.

Pick-Up/Drop-Off
Our school day begins at 8:00am each morning, with staff supervising outside beginning at 7:50am. Our school day ends at 2:40pm. Please ensure that you arrive on time to be able to pick up your child at this time. If an emergency arises and you are going to be a few minutes late, please contact the office. We want to remind families that our office closes shortly after the school day. We ask that late pick-up is minimal to ensure that staff are able to tend to their other responsibilities after the bell.
Winter Celebration
We’ll be hosting our annual Winter Celebration on Thursday, Dec. 14. The performance will begin at 5:30pm in the gym and will run for roughly 75-90 minutes. Based on our limited capacity, we ask that attendance is restricted to a couple of immediate family members. Further instructions/details will be sent out in the coming weeks.
Soccer
Due to the ongoing safety concerns with snow and ice as well as peer conflicts, we’ve decided to take a break from soccer for the next little while. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and will revisit next steps in the coming weeks.
Have a great weekend,
Megan Liddell (mrliddell@cbe.ab.ca) & Jaydon Derdall (jwderdall@cbe.ab.ca)
