Week of Sept. 11-15 | Enrolment, Structures & Routines, School Council
Good afternoon Abbeydale School Families,
It was so great getting to know our new EES students and families as they started this week. We also had a very successful Meet the Teacher afternoon for our regular program students. There are so many new faces to Abbeydale this year and we are excited to get to know them as well as to connect with our returning families. If you didn’t have a chance to connect with your child/ren’s homeroom teacher, we encourage you to reach out to them at drop off, or send them an email as things come up throughout the year!
Please see updates from the week ahead below:
Enrolment Growth – Potential Classroom Changes
In the past week we have welcomed 34 (and counting!) new students to Abbeydale School! We’re excited to welcome these new faces but also know that this can add other layers to think about such as manageable class sizes. Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be working with our Area team to best accommodate Abbeydale students. While classroom changes are a last resort, this may be a necessary step given our growing numbers. As we know more information, we’ll connect with any families who may be impacted by necessary changes. We appreciate your understanding and want you to know we are working VERY hard to set students up for a positive school year! If you have any questions, please email Mr. Derdall (jwderdall@cbe.ab.ca) or Ms. Liddell (mrliddell@cbe.ab.ca).
Structures & Routines
Each classroom has been busy setting up routines and structures in their classrooms at the start of the year. We want to remind parents how healthy these are to have at home as well! We encourage all families to set up healthy routines around bedtime, reading, family time, physical activity and screen time. In addition to this, age-appropriate responsibilities like helping around the house with various chores are good for your child/ren and support them with essential skills that will help them develop and gain independence to support them as they grow.
School Council
We have an amazing School Council and they want YOU to get involved! Please see a letter of introduction and general information under Links.
Have a great weekend,
Megan Liddell (mrliddell@cbe.ab.ca) & Jaydon Derdall (jwderdall@cbe.ab.ca)
